Question for the Hippies

13 Jan

Are cigarettes compostable when they are American Spirits?

Also, I ate approximately 1 bazillion Brussels sprouts this evening.

Nope. The filters will stay forever. You even have to be careful in touching some plants in your garden after smoking to reduce the chance of cross-contamination. Eggplant is one. I don’t have the memory retention for all – so we just wash hands and wait 20 minutes before heading into the garden…

    Nicotine is a deadly poison.
I make a insect killer by boiling a little tobacco, then add dawn blue soap and dilute with water. I spray my flowers with this and find it will kill many insects on contact and many more if they chew on the leafs I have sprayed.

Some plants have a violent reaction if they come in contact with tobacco or nicotine.

Filters take many years exposed to sun and weather to break down.

Thanks, knottywitch and pobept for your comments. The question and accompanying picture were actually a joke. Ultimately, no compost piles were endangered with cigarette filters.
